Trip Overview

The Kathmandu Valley is surrounded by many small hills which are very important viewpoints. You can take a ride in the early morning for a beautiful sunrise view or hike to any of these hills for fresh air and a healthy walk. Hiking is a healthy workout session for your legs and lungs for a better mind and body. So, instead of riding to and from one destination to another, we provide you with a day hike of healthy 4 to 5 hours of walk from Namo Buddha to Dhulikhel.

We will drive you to Namo Buddha and from Dhulikhel in a private vehicle so that you won’t have to exhaust yourself during this trip. During the trip, we will pick you up from the pick-up point which was agreed upon, and then drive to Namo Buddha for a good exploration of the famous Buddhist pilgrimage site. There is a tale of a prince giving his life to feed a tigress and her baby as the poor creatures were dying of hunger. So a new Buddha was born in Namo Buddha. There is a monastery and temple in the area. You will explore the region and then hike to Dhulikhel. It will be around 4 hours of walking through a peaceful and serene environment filled with wildflowers, small villages, and terraced lands. After you reach the ancient Newar city: Dhulikhel.

The hike to Dhulikhel showcases the many Himalayas in the background with different cultures and biodiversity. Birds and Butterfly watching can be done in many places in Dhulikhel. As it is one of the oldest Newari towns, the old buildings that remain in the region have intricate craftsmanship of carved windows and doors. You will visit the Kali temple in Dhulikhel which is a relic of the past. After that, we will ride back to the pick-up destination ending the trip in the rims of Kathmandu.

8:00 am: Pickup and drive to Namo Buddha

Your trip and hike will start after breakfast. We will ride a private vehicle to Namo Buddha. As soon as we leave the city area, we will be on the winding path toward Kavre. It will take us more than an hour to reach Namo Buddha. After reaching Namo Buddha, we will climb up to the hill for some spectacular views of the Himalayas and also visit the monastery there. The hike begins from Namo Buddha.

10:00 am: Hike to Dhulikhel and explore Dhulikhel

Then we will hike towards Dhulikhel from Namo Buddha. There are different routes that we can take. We will take an easy, peaceful, and most giving route towards Dhulikhel with Kali temple in our path. The Kali temple is a relic of the past withering as time passes. But many devotees still visit the temple and give offerings. The Dhulikhel is an old Newari town that was a key point of trade between Tibet in the past. It is located at the eastern rim of Kathmandu valley. You can see many mountain peaks like Annapurna, Ganesh Himal, Langtang, Gaurishankar, Lhotse, and Phuribichyachu from Dhulikhel.

3:00 pm: Drive back to Kathmandu

After the hike and exploring the town of Dhulikhel, we will rest our tired legs and hop on our ride back to Kathmandu. It will take us a little more than an hour to reach back to Kathmandu.
