    Introduction - Mardi Himal Trek and Chitwan Experience

    The Mardi Himal is one of the underrated locations in the Annapurna region. People fawn over Annapurna Base Camp Trek as the highlight of the Annapurna region, but the Mardi Himal Base Camp Trek is a hidden gem going around the corner of the map on the beaten track. The trek will take you to the base of Mardi Himal at 4500 meters. It has a view of the Annapurna range with mountains like Machhapuchhre, Hiunchuli, Annapurna South, Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, Lamjung, Annapurna I, and Mardi Himal. You can enjoy the views there with much fewer crowds than in other treks of the Annapurna region. Along the way, the path has beautiful forests of rhododendron, oak, hemlock, and maple, exquisite tea houses, and eye-catching cultivation fields and pasture lands.

    "Beauty is in the journey and satisfaction in the destination."

    "Indulge yourself in the environment filled with a rich ecosystem."

    As it is not only a trek but also a tour of Chitwan, you can visit the Himalayas, hills, and Terai regions in just two weeks. Chitwan (Chit-heart and Wan-Jungle) symbolizes the heart of the jungle. As the heart of the jungle, it has treasures of nature: the vast flora and fauna. Chitwan National Park, as the name suggests, is in Chitwan. It is one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. UNESCO designated it a Natural World Heritage Site in 1984. So it is the most preferred go-to place in Nepal. It has a rich and vast amount of faunas like mammals, reptiles and amphibians, birds, and fishes. Till now, the recorded amounts of these faunas are:

    • Mammals->68
    • Birds->544
    • Herpetofauna->56
    • Fish->126

    The main attractions of Chitwan National Park are Royal Bengal Tiger, Gharial Crocodile, and One Horned Rhinoceros. You can also see other animals like Gaur, Four-horned Antelope, Pangolin, Wild elephant, Python, Golden Monitor Lizard, Black Stork, White Stork, Bengal Florican, Lesser Florican, and Giant Hornbill. In this experience, you will also visit the elephant breeding center and come across the Tharu culture.

    In this trek and tour combo, you can explore 4 UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Nepal: Pashupatinath Temple, Bouddhanath Stupa, Bhaktapur Durbar Square, and Chitwan National Park. In Kathmandu, you can visit the 3 World Heritage Sites. Then you will head towards the Mardi Himal Base Camp after the flight from Pokhara. Drive to Khade and trek to Mardi Himal Base Camp, staying at Deurali, Forest Camp, and High Camp on the way. And head down to Badal Danda to reach Lwang Village through Kalimati Village. Finally, you will drive to Pokhara, head to Chitwan, and explore Chitwan National Park. Your remarkable journey ends in Kathmandu.

    So, if you want to join this beautiful adventure which comprises trekking in Nepal and visiting the most sought travel destination of Nepal, some recognized by UNESCO, then contact us, and we will help you organize your wonderful experience.

    Mardi Himal Trek and Chitwan Experience FAQS

    Essential Information

    • We will cater all meals on a full board basis during the trekking period. At the tea house, we will be catering meals thrice a day (Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner, including tea and coffee during the meal). The meals comprise a variety of American cuisine and numerous traditional Nepali and Chinese dishes. Throughout the stay in Kathmandu and Pokhara, meals are on a breakfast basis with farewell dinner. Snacks and bottled drinks (including mineral water and liquor) are excluded from the package. We provide two nights of twin sharing lodging in a deluxe hotel during the stay in Kathmandu and Pokhara, two nights of twin sharing lodging in Jagatpur Lodge during the stay in Chitwan, and a 6-night twin sharing in a teahouse/lodge and tented to bivouac as per itinerary (single occupancy is available on request with single supplement).

    • Most teahouses along the Mardi Himal Base Camp trail cook a delicious range of mostly vegetarian food. The menu in the teahouses is varied, ranging from traditional Dal Bhat, Momo, and noodles to Pasta and pizza. You will find garlicky food on the menu, which assists with acclimatization at a higher altitude. In the main cities like Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Chitwan you can find a wide variety of vegetarian, non-vegetarian, local, and western food.

    • The Mardi Himal Base Camp trek is teahouse-styled trekking and does not include camping. Since the Annapurna region is one of the most popular regions for trekking, there are plenty of teahouses available along the trail. Except for one or two luxury hotels, most tea-house lodges are decent with basic facilities. You can expect a room with two beds, a thin mattress, a pillow, and a blanket for each bed. Bringing a sleeping bag is advisable as a blanket provided in the teahouse will not suffice. Most of the teahouse has a squat toilet. The accommodation in the cities is at decent Hotels with standard facilities.

    • Chitwan is a favorite tourist destination for national as well as international travelers. So, you can expect international as well as national cuisines. There will be a buffet for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
