Trip Overview

The Chandragiri Hills View Point is one of the most famous and visited the place around Kathmandu Valley. It is a beautiful viewpoint with an elevation of 2551 meters. To reach the hilltop you can either hike or take a gondola ride. The top of the hills gives outstanding views of Annapurna and Everest Himalayan ranges along with Kathmandu valley. The hill also has a famous temple of Bhaleshwor Mahadev. It is two level pagoda-style temple with intricate carvings on the walls and windows. The viewpoint represents the natural and cultural heritage of Nepal. Along with these heritages, it is a popular family trip spot with restaurants, shops, and a children's playground. The path has been made smooth for the elderly to walk around easily and the pony ride is available there. There is a further plan to add attractions like zip lining, paragliding, and natural history exhibits making this place more alluring in the future days.

On this day's hike from Machhegaun to Chandragiri Hills, you will take a ride to Machhegaun from Kathmandu and then hike to Chandragiri Hills. The trail is zigzag uphill through the jungle. As you ascend the beautiful view of the valley below you will memorize yourself. On the way, you will reach Jiban Safal Hotel and Bhanjyang and then climb up to Chandragiri Hills. After spending some quality time on the hilltop, you will take a gondola ride back to the Thankot, the start point of Chandragiri Cable car if you were to ride a cable car to Chandragiri Hills first. Trip Itinerary

Pickup from Hotel and Drive to Machhegaun

We will pick you up from the hotel area and we will drive to Machhegaun. It will take about an hour to reach the start point of our hike. After we reach the start point to Chandragiri Hills, we will prepare our backpacks and start the ascend

Hike from Machhegaun to Chandragiri Hills

Then we will start our hike through dense forest. We can see many flora and fauna during the uphill climb to the Chandragiri Hills. It will take about 5 hours to reach our destination. It will be a pleasant nature walk. Right after about 2 hours of walking, we will reach Jiban Safal hotel and we will take a right turn and head to Bhanjyang. The forest of pine and rhododendron cover the hills. After a few hours of the tough uphill climb, you will reach Chandragiri Hills.

Explore Chandragiri Hills

Now we explore the hills of Chandragiri. Let us visit the view tower for panoramic views of the mountain ranges of Everest and Annapurna along with the Kathmandu valley. The Bhaleshwor Mahadev Temple is right next to the view tower with an outstanding backdrop of mountains. For children, there is a park for them to have fun. We will explore the region and then head back to Kathmandu.

Return to Hotel/Pickup point

We will now prepare to go back to Kathmandu/your pickup point. We will get our ticket to ride the gondola. The duration of our ride is about 15 minutes at a maximum crossing of 2.5 km. The scenery during the ride with terraced paths and lush forest is very alluring. Then we will reach the Chandragiri cable car station. Our ride will be waiting for us which will drive you to Kathmandu. We will drive through the city and reach our destination. We will drop you at the pickup point or your hotel.

FAQs

"Fair" means it's a bit more challenging than our "Easy" hikes, but definitely doable for most people with a moderate fitness level. We'll tackle some uphill sections, but the trail is well-maintained, and we'll take it at a comfortable pace with plenty of breaks. If you enjoy walking and are up for a bit of a workout with amazing views, you'll be fine!
