Trip Overview

Mt. Manaslu, the eighth-highest peak on the Earth, is known as the mountain of the spirit. The two-week-long Manaslu trek wraps around Mount Manaslu and offers a complete wilderness experience in the remote Himalayan villages. Along the Manaslu circuit trek, trekkers pass over the breathtaking high mountain passes, walk over glacial terrain and explore the unique village lifestyle of the people in the Manaslu region.

Although open to trekkers since 1991, the Manaslu Conservation Area (MCA) remains less traveled, with only a small number of trekkers visiting the region. The region is considered a restricted area and requires an additional permit and the accompaniment of a registered guide to the trek. The quieter and remote trails, picturesque villages, and stunning mountain views make the Manaslu Circuit a wonderful and unspoiled region.

"Experience the journey through the undisturbed region in the Himalayas of Nepal."

The Manaslu trek begins from the little village of Aarughat and passes through bamboo forest and hospitable Gurung villages in the narrow Budi Gandaki Gorge. In the initial days of the trek, the trail ascends the Budhi Gandaki Valley on a path through a mix of dense forest, terraced fields, and hill villages. The route sweeps through gorges, crosses suspension bridges, and passes through the pastures cultivating barley, an ancient trade route to Tibet. As we enter the Tibetan villages, after crossing the Lho villages, we will encounter a change in architecture and an increased number of monasteries, Mani walls, and colorful flags. As we get closer to the Larkya- La, the highest point on the trek, we encounter rough glacial moraine and a final short steeper section of the Pass.

The highest point in the trek, Larkya La Pass, is widely believed to be one of the most dramatic passes crossing the Himalayas with superb views of Himal Chuli, Manaslu, Cheo Himal, and Himlung Himal mountains. We continue to trek till we reach Dharapani and then drive to Beshisahar, known as the starting point of the famous Annapurna Circuit Trek. Along the way, we pass through the alpine forests and glacial rivers and enjoy the warm hospitality of ethnic people.

The pathway traverses through a geographically spectacular and culturally fascinating region. Thus it is compared to a Classic Annapurna circuit. The trail traverses varied terrain and landscape ranging from lowland to high up to the Tibetan border. With the geographical variation, the ethnic composition of the people living in the area also varies from Brahmins and Gurung in the lowland and Tibetans and Gurung in the highland.

The trek is most suitable for one looking for a challenging excursion exploring the beauty and wilderness of the remote regions of Nepal. With its remoteness and secluded solidarity, Manaslu Circuit Trek is an ideal choice for those who prefer to become one with nature.

Join the Manaslu Trek from Himalayan Advisor and embark on a journey on the off-beaten path to explore the astounding beauty and unique culture of land lying at the edge of secluded Himalayan valleys around the Manaslu.
