      Kathmandu Durbar Square:

Kathmandu's Durbar Square is one of three Durbar Squares in the Kathmandu Valley. The Square includes the site of the Hanuman Dhoka Palace Complex, which was the royal residence until the 19th century. Till today, the important ceremonies like a coronation takes place in the Hanuman Dhoka complex. The palaces and temples in the square are decorated with elaborately-carved wooden windows and panels. The square also includes KumariGhar, the house of the living goddess of Nepal.

      Patan Durbar Square

After a visit to Kathmandu Durbar Square, we visit the Patan Durbar Square known for its beautiful temples. The square has been  adorned by the Bhimsen Temple, Manga Hiti, Krishna Mandir, Vishwanath Temple, Jagannarayan Temple, Golden Temple and numerous other temples. Golden Temple, one of the main attractions of the Patan Durbar Square, is the unique Buddhist Monastery built in the 12th century. The temple is a large rectangular building with three roofs and a copper gilded facade with the images and illustrations about Buddha on the walls.

Drive to Namobuddha, hike to Balthali village resort

After a hearty breakfast in our hotel, we take a drive to the beautiful Namobuddha situated near Panauti. The temple of Namobuddha holds the story of a kind and compassionate king who offered his own flesh to a starving tigress and her cubs. We can also visit a large Buddhist monastery sharing the mountain top with the Namobuddha temple. Apart from the visit to the temple and the monastery, the top of the hill provides spectacular view of the green hills and villages below.

We wake up early for a beautiful hike to view the sunrise over the horizon. The Balthali village provides one of the best hikes at a short distance from the bustling Kathmandu city. The mustard fields, terraced farmlands, beautiful hills and the Himalayas in the horizon makes the hiking in Balthali a wonderful experience. Hike around Balthali is a great way to explore the beautiful landscape, the village, and interact with the locals.

Drive back to Kathmandu and city tour Bhaktapur, Pashupati & Bouddha

We drive back to Kathmandu in the morning and continue our visit to the important cultural sites in the valley.

      Bhaktapur Durbar Square:

We visit the fascinating Bhaktapur Durbar Square, which is considered to be the most fascinating among the three  Durbar Squares in the alley. The Durbar square is one of the most charming architectural showpieces of the Valley as it showcases the rich, ancient Newari arts of the valley. The temples, monasteries, palaces and courtyard in the city has ornately carved art and designs. The golden figures of the ancient kings perched on the top of stone monoliths, the guardian deities looking out from their temple, the wood carvings in every place-struts, lintels, uprights, tympanums, gateways and windows, all seem to form a well orchestrated symphony. The Bhaktapur Durbar Square is best appreciated by sitting and watching while one of the many religious festivals and processions passes by. We can see many workshops as we stroll around the city as it is known for its art, architecture pottery and woodcarving.

      Pashupatinath Temple:

Pashupatinath is the most important Hindu temple on the banks of the holy Bagmati River. The temple is surrounded by a bustling market of religious stalls selling flowers, prasad (offerings), incense, Rudraksha beads, pictures of Hindu deities and temples and other essential religious paraphernalia. This is one of the most sacred Hindu temple in the world, and we see the devotees from all around the world flock to Pashupatinath. We can see the temple premises filled with the devotees and Sadhu, the holy men. Non-Hindus are not allowed inside the main temple, but the surrounding complex of shrines and ghats is fascinating to watch.

We then visit the BoudhanathStupa, a holy Budhhist shrine. The shrine is perfectly proportioned from its whitewashed dome to its gilded tower painted with the all-seeing peaceful eyes of the Buddha. The highly architecture of the shrine is highly symbolic and serves in essence as a three-dimensional reminder of the Buddha’s path towards enlightenment. Stupas are originally built to house holy relics and while some claim that Boudhnath contains the relics of the past Buddha, Kashyapa, many believe that it contains relic of  Siddhartha Gautama, the historical Buddha.
